China's first aircraft carrier enters service

The Liaoning was named after a province in north-eastern China

The Liaoning was formally handed over to the navy at a ceremony attended by top Chinese leaders at Dalian Port, state-run Xinhua news agency said."Having the aircraft carrier enter the ranks will be of important significance in raising the overall fighting capacity of our nation's navy to a modern level," China's Defence Ministry said in a statement. The vessel will "increase [China's] capacity to defend, develop its capacity to co-operate on the high seas in dealing with non-traditional security threats and will be effective in defending the interests of state sovereignty, security and development", it added. The official commissioning of the country's first aircraft carrier signals China's status as a rising power, says the BBC's Damian Grammaticas in Beijing. The Chinese military confirmed in June 2011 that it was being refitted to serve as the nation's first aircraft carrier.Analysts say it will take years to outfit the carrier with aircraft and make it fully operational. But Chinese officials say that the Liaoning advances the country's military modernisation."The development of aircraft carriers is an important part of China's national defense modernization, in particular its naval forces, and this aircraft carrier is an essential stepping stone toward its own more advanced aircraft carriers in the future," China's Rear Admiral Yang Yi wrote in state-run China Daily newspaper.
The carrier will be mostly used "for scientific research and training missions" so China could build "a more advanced aircraft carrier platform in the future", he added.

Security breach at ISRO?

Zeenews Bureau
Bangalore: In a sensational development, a women posing as a space scientist was nabbed from Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) headquarters in Bangalore on September 22, the police revealed on Monday. The woman identified as Jula N Sam, a 40-year-old from Ahmedabad, was arrested by CISF guards at the gates of the high-security complex in Yelahanka. She was carrying fake ID cards, reports added. Police said Jula had visited Kollam in Kerala to attend the last rites of her father on September 19 and after that, came to Bangalore the same night and stayed at ISRO's guest house at Jeevan Beemanagar, around 10 km from the ISRO headquarters, by producing a fake ID card.
She had obtained the card from a photo studio at Kollam, police said. Police booked Jula under various IPC sections including 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record), 420 (cheating) and 490 (breach of contract of service during voyage or journey). Police said Jula's husband, who is in the city, claimed that his wife is mentally challenged. If not for the presence of mind of CISF officials, security may have been breached at the ISRO headquarters at a time when the space research organisation is gearing up to launch PSLV10. recently, defence establishment DRDO was in news after one of its scientist was arrested for having alleged links with terror outfits such as the Lashkar-e-Toiba and Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI).

PLA-AF- J 20

The Chengdu J-20 (Jian-20simplified Chinese-traditional Chinese-二零pinyinJiān èr líng) is a purported[5]fifth-generationstealthtwin-engine fighter aircraft prototype developed by Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group for the ChinesePeople's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF).[6][7] In late 2010, the J-20 underwent high speed taxiing tests. The J-20 made its first flight on 11 January 2011.[8][9] General He Weirong, Deputy Commander of the People's Liberation Army Air Force said in November 2009 that he expected the J-20 to be operational in 2017–2019

China thus became the third nation in the world to "develop and test-fly a full-size stealth combat aircraft demonstrator", after the United States and Russia.[23] The Guardianreported that experts, on the one hand, expressed "surprise" at the speed with which the aircraft was developed, but on the other hand "said the country's military prowess was still relatively backward and way behind that of the US" and that its military interests were limited to its region.

Second prototype of the Su-35S Flanker

US 7th fleet base in Bangladesh?- Times now.

A secret meeting was held in Bangladesh between the US and Bangladesh authorities to discuss US Marine Corps assistance to Bangladesh in surveying and managing its borders with India. The goal is being shown as identifying routes of movement of terrorists and religious extremists. But in fact there is a deeper context. According to The Bangladesh Today:
Source: http://rezwanul.blogspot.in/2008/07/us-military-base-in-bangladesh.html
A likely place to allow camping of the US Soldiers is the Korean EPZ in Chittagong. The KEPZ has not gone into operation and acres of land are barren in the protected areas, where construction work is going for an airport runaway. It is learnt the former US Ambassador Buetenis who is now deputy head of the US Embassy in Iraq made several trips to Bangladesh recently, only to evaluate progress of works for this camp. The question is will Bangladesh be turned into a launching pad for the US for its military forays in the neighborhood?

India Test fires Agni V ICBM missile

The maiden test of Agni V missile was successfully test fired on Thursday 8.05 am from wheeler island odisha. Which was developed by the Defense Research and Development Organisation. (DRDO)Agni-5, with a range of over 5,000 km, is a three-stage, all solid fuel powered, 17-metre tall missile with capability to carry various forms of payload. It can be launched from land-based mobile platform and has the capability of hitting multiple targets.
The successful test launch of the missile is a major leap forward for India in the area of military technology and military deterrent capability, making it the fifth country in the world to possess such a technology. A successful flight would have placed India in the elite league of nation like the US, France, Russia and China having ICBMs.
After its test launch, DRDO plans to conduct more tests of the missile over the next one year after studying and analysing the parameters achieved in each subsequent trial and the weapon system would join service in 2014.

Doomsday Scare 2012 -

What is  doomsday..?  or 2012 phenomenon...?
In the past year we’ve heard dozens of doomsday prophecies coming from all angles. But one of the most disturbing that seems to coincide almost perfectly with the December 2012 theory is drawn not from theories, but from observations about our solar system. And the conclusions made are based not entirely on speculation, but on history. And if they do occur in the way Alexey Dmitriev suggests, it will change the entire planet as we know it and might kickstart a whole new age for the human race. And Dmitriev is not alone in his theory that NASA may know more about this than they’re letting on. Quote from NASA Website " The solar system is passing through an interstellar cloud that physics says should not exist"

St. Lawrence Church - Attur, Karkala

Attur Church situated in the outskirts of Karkala town in Karnataka state — India.
Placed amidst placid greenery, the Attur-Karkala parish has a rich history with its origin tracing back to 1759. Moreover it is known for its miraculous history. Miracle, history, beauty, social activities, all bundled into one.Unlike others, the church is a place of worship and belief for all, irrespective of caste and creed. An vidence for universal peace and brotherhood. People from all walks of the society come here to offer their prayers to St Lawrence.

The Saint.

Born in the 3rd century St. Lawrence believed to be a Spaniard was an extraordinarily virtuous young man. This quality was came to the notice of St. Xystus, the then archdeacon of Rome. Under the tutelage of St. Xystus, Lawrence studied the holy scriptures, and the maxims of Christian perfection.St. Xystus was raised to the pontificate in 257, he ordained Lawrence deacon and appointed him the first among the seven deacons who served in the Roman Church. Lawrence thus became the Pope's Archdeacon. This was a charge of great trust, to which was annexed the care of the treasury and riches of the Church, and the distribution of its revenues among the poor.

History

Christians over here suffered captivity under Tippu Sultan during the period 1784-1799. The parish church in those days was situated at a place about 7 kilometres away from the present church. Tippu demolished that church and after freedom from captivity built a Church with thatched roof somewhere on the way to Nakre in the year 1801 under the leadership of a Goan priest.
When the church was too old to be used, devotees of St Lawrence accompanied by a Goan priest went about in search of a suitable site carrying with them a one-foot wooden statue of St Lawrence. They were praying St Lawrence to guide them in the choice of a place for raising a church in his honour. They crossed the Rama-Samudra of Karkala and coming down the woods of 'Parpare hills' they reached Attur. Then they saw a spring flowing at the bottom of the hill. As they were tired and thirsty they placed the statue of Saint on the ground and quenched their thirst.
After sometime they thought of resuming the journey, but to their great surprise they could not lift the statue, it was firm and immovable like a tree. Then the priest decided to build the church there and stooped down to lift the statue and it easily detached from the ground. It was at that very spot, that they erected the church in the year 1839, and soon became a place of pilgrimage.
In the year 1895 the parish priest, Rev Fr Frank finding so many devotees of St Lawrence flocking to this church and claiming to have received innumerable favours from the saint fostered the devotion further and organised novenas and prayer services making them more and more attractive. In the year 1900 Rev Fr Frank Pereira had the present church built facing the north. This church was blessed and inaugurated on 22 January 1901 by the Vicar General, Very Rev Mgr Frachetti

Faith and belief

This church being widely acclaimed as having the power to intercede with God, attracts not only the residents of Udupi District but also pilgrims from all parts of India.
This parish of St Lawrence is all set to celebrate the completion of 200 years of its existence in January 2001. A new church building as a memorial of the Bicentenary was blessed on the 21st of January 2001 by the Bishop of Mangalore. The Annual Festival popularly known as 'Attur Jatre (Festival)' is both a religious and cultural fete, as people from all faiths throng the church on this occasion. People of all religions are equally fond of the Attur Church or the Attur Jatre. Another significant characteristic of the church is the jatre(festival) that takes place every year during the last Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of January inviting lakhs of devotees into its arms

Kallathigiri Falls- Kemmangundi

Landscapes and sceneries that are stunning will always strike our mind, and if some nature’s creation isn’t that exhilarating, even then people’s reaction will be similar. That is why travelers’ and vacationers’ perspective regarding the “Kalathgiri Falls” is positive and they appreciate its surroundings and revitalizing environment.

Kalathgiri Falls are sited near Kemmanagundi, which is 55 km north of Chikmagalur, a naturally blessed district that is the main attraction in Karnataka. At Kalathgiri Falls, pilgrims love to witness a small temple that is sandwiched between the waterfalls and rocks. Being a quintessential Indian temple, it retain idols and stone sculptures of the predominant God and Goddesses that turns this place into a pilgrimage destination as well. Around the year, devotees, frequent and occasional travelers crossing into Chikmagalur do visit the Kalathgiri Falls to view the temple and serene aura of this highly revitalizing site.

The overall experience of tourists and travelers at the Kalathgiri Falls is unwinding; however, the only constraint is the availability of food and accommodation that can be availed at Chikmagalur at pocket friendly prices. During the trip to Kalathgiri Falls, travelers do take packed food along and accommodate themselves at  Chikmagalur, where accommodation is highly luxurious, cozy and comfy. Moreover, the multiple cuisine alternatives available at Chikmagalur gratify the travelers with varied tastes and preferences.
For tourist’s information, there are few adjoining attractions that can be witnessed, apart from the Kalathgiri Falls, such Z Point, Rock Garden and Hebbe Falls. Z Point is solely intended for the adventure lovers, whereas rock garden grab everyone’s attention in large, due to it’s unique structure and extraordinary architecture. Merely 10 km away from Kemmanagundi, Hebbe Falls also offer scenic waterfalls view that seems quite similar to Kalathgiri Falls.
