Nagaprathishte in NITK
Last week there was a Brahmakalashotsava for "Nagabana" in NITK Surathkal. The festival went on for three days i.e 14-15-16 of Febrauray 2006. This festival was held because of some bad incidents that went on in NITK for previous 6 months, when people consulted astrologers about these incidents, it was said that the existing "Nagabana" be re-built in front of the PG Hostel. Accordingly a new place of worship was built in the said place, with places for Naga, Brahma, Nandi, Kshetrapala and Raktheshwari. Once the construction was over, the annoitance ceremony or the Brahmakalashotsava was performed on 16th. There was also a cultural activity function on 15th evening where Shri Vidyabhushan recited devotional songs. Some of the big names including the Director of NITK participated in the ceremony. Free meals in the form of prasadam was served to around 10000 people. The lunch was grand.
The non-teaching staffs' General union and Temporary staffs' union participated actively, many of the volunteers worked day and night for the succesful completion of the function. The function was completely succesful and went on without a hitch.
